The 3 in our Oval 3 carabiner stands for triple action gate. This particular gate is also rated for side loading as is required by ANSI.
Its black zinc plate is a sacrificial surface finish rated to meet ANSI/CSA standards.
With its classic oval shape it works well as a personal carabiner as it fits perfectly with your hardware.
